Grading & Site Preparation in Metro Detroit
Rough and finish grading, subgrade preparation and slope correction across Detroit and Metro Detroit. Most concrete and asphalt failures start as water problems — this is the stage where those get solved instead of buried.
Capabilities
What this scope covers.
Rough and finish grading, subgrade prep and slope correction, so what gets built on top of it doesn't fail from underneath.
Cut and fill to design grade, finished to tolerance.
Proofed and compacted so the surface above it doesn't move.
Positive drainage away from structures, verified before we leave.
Base material placed and compacted to spec depth.
How we do it
Start to finish
Shoot the grades
We survey what's actually there before moving dirt. Assumed grades are how sites end up ponding.
Cut & fill
Balanced on site where possible, so you're not paying to haul dirt out and gravel in.
Set positive drainage
Slope established away from every structure and toward where water is supposed to go.
Compact & proof
Compacted in lifts and proof-rolled. If it moves under load now, it'll move under concrete later.
Common questions
Straight answers
Why does grading matter so much?
Because almost every failed slab and lot we're called out to look at traces back to water or compaction, not to the concrete or asphalt itself. Grading is where both get decided.
Can you fix standing water in a lot or yard?
Usually. Ponding is a grade problem, and re-establishing slope is far cheaper than people expect.
Can you work from a site plan?
Yes. Send it and we'll quote to the grades on it — and flag anything that won't actually drain the way it's drawn.
